Meeting Our Neighbors at the 9th Annual Palo Alto Community Health Fair

This past Saturday, September 19, ACE Medical CA spent the afternoon at Mitchell Park Community Center for the 9th Annual Palo Alto Community Health Fair, hosted by the Palo Alto Family YMCA. It was a free event built around better health for individuals and families. We got to hear from Palo Alto mayor Vicki Veenker and the importance of having a community event like this. We were glad to be part of it!

Why We Were There

Durable medical equipment (DME) isn't something most people think about until they suddenly need it. A hospital discharge, a new diagnosis, or a parent who is having a harder time getting around can leave a family with a lot of questions and very little time to answer them. We wanted to be a friendly, familiar face for people before they reach that point, and a helpful resource when they do.

A community health fair is a good place to do that. There's no pressure and no paperwork, just neighbors talking about what matters to them.

The Conversations That Made Our Day

We set up our table hoping to meet people, and we came away with a lot more than we expected. Some visitors stopped by to learn what DME is and what it includes. Others came with specific needs.

Those conversations reminded us why we do this work. Behind every equipment order is a person who wants to be comfortable, safe, and independent, and a family who wants to feel confident in their care choices.

What We Hope People Took Away

If you stopped by our table, thank you. And if you didn't get the chance, here are a few things we want every family to know:

  • You don't have to figure it out alone. Home medical support can feel overwhelming, and asking questions is always okay.
  • Planning ahead helps. Understanding your options before a crisis makes decisions easier.
  • Support is local. We're proud to be part of this community and to serve the families in it.

Thank You, Palo Alto

Thank you to the Palo Alto Family YMCA for organizing such a welcoming event, to the fellow organizations and volunteers who made the day run smoothly, and most of all to everyone who took a moment to stop by and say hello.

We're looking forward to staying in touch with everyone we met, and to meeting more of our neighbors in the months ahead.
